SEEKING

Equity and non-Equity actors for roles in Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare.

All roles are available, most performer tracks will involve doubling, and the production is open to casting all roles with all genders. 

The production will take place in Brooklyn’s Carroll Park May 14 - June 7.

Characters

Brutus - noble, idealistic, conflicted, a poor judge of tactics.

Cassius - passionate, intellectual, political, insecure.

Mark Antony - charismatic, opportunistic, a stealthy intelligence. 

Julius Caesar - militaristic, grandiose, an immense presence.

Casca - wry, shrewd, funny, plays dumb.

Portia - willful, plaintive, incisive, capable of extremes.

Octavius - political, strategic, unsentimental.

Decius - a good improviser, perceptive, jocular.

Cicero - august, stately, old money.

Conspirators, Generals, Plebians, Soldiers.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

If you are using a phone to record please be sure to film horizontally in a well-lit space. The production is outdoors and doesn’t use sound amplification, so vocal technique and textual clarity are essential. Please slate with name, pronouns, and a list of musical instruments you play, if any. 

Email casting@smithstreetstage.org a link to a 1-2 minute Shakespearean monologue. If you play an instrument, please include a video or recording of you playing. Email links in a streaming format (Vimeo, YouTube, Google Drive, etc.) Do not attach full video files or send download links (WeTransfer, YouSendIt, etc). Please include your headshot/resume.
